What it Does:

The Happ Control Interface Development Kit contains everything needed to provide an interface between any Happ Controls input device (joystick, button, trackball, steering wheel, etc.) and a PC. This will allow the use of Happ's rugged and reliable controls in a game or any custom designed application intended for public or commercial use where flimsy consumer type controls will not last. The kit contains a PCB, power supply, demo and debug software, software drivers and all the necessary cables and documentation to get you going. The CIB will support four analog, 16 I/O and seven digital inputs 

How it Connects:

The CIB-1000 PCB is intended to be located near the controls that are to be interfaced to the PC. The CIB PCB connects to the controls via a simple wire harness and communicates to the PC via an RS-232 link connecting to a serial port on the PC. The CIB can be located over 100 feet from the PC. The CIB is powered by a 9 volt AC adapter (included) and can also operate on 12 VDC.

How it Works:

The CIB does all the communicating with the controls, freeing the software from this time consuming task. When used with the Win9X driver, the CIB will poll the controls every millisecond or so and transmit this information to the PC where it is stored in local memory. The customer's application can then quickly read the data from local PC memory by either polling or checking a flag. If the flag is set, the data has changed since last being read and you will know that there is new data waiting.

A driver is included for Win 95 based applications that use Direct X. This driver installs the controls in Windows Control Panel/Joystick just like a consumer control. All setup and calibration is done in Control Panel. Communication is at 57KB, fast enough to prevent any control latency (Pentium 133 or better required for 57KB, Direct X required).
